Stance is how we feel about the topic we are writing about, I usually confuse this with exigence as they both seem to question the driving force of our writing but the key difference is that Exigence asks for a physical reason while Stance asks for an emotional reason.

In Figure 1, I make it clear what personally make me want to carry out this lab report. I as the writer want to bring attention to this because it will help with the efforts against climate change. The stance isn’t purely emotional as it talks about how others benefit but it includes my emotional attachment and so it carries persuasive element with it.
